The history of the meeting

CIARIS is an electronic tool aimed at supporting the actors of the fight against social exclusion at the local level to improve the impact of their actions. It has been developed by the STEP Portugal Programme of the International Labour Office.

CIARIS provides resources, e-learning, technical assistance, in other words, a space to exchange, communicate, learn and centralise knowledge in the field of the fight against social exclusion.

During the last months CIARIS' activities have multiplied in different parts of the world: online distance learning courses, distance technical assistance, new regional adapted versions, online discussions on specific topics ...

People from different horizons and backgrounds are currently involved in CIARIS life: elaborating content, animating discussions, facilitating learning courses, designing activities, learning or just simply thinking on how CIARIS could better fit the needs of the actors of social inclusion. These people are CIARIS Friends.

The Lisbon Conference, 2-3 October 2006, will bring together an important number of CIARIS Friends. An informal CIARIS Friends face-to-face meeting will be held at this occasion.

The CIARIS Friends face-to-face meeting is a great opportunity to know each other, to exchange experiences, views and dreams and to work together on CIARIS' future.
